SENSOGAN® is a new bit
material developed by SPRENGER and is the result of two years of research and
development aiming to improve on the AURIGAN material which has made SPRENGER
bits so popular with so many professional and amateur riders.
SENSOGAN® has
improved properties but also a new appearance. The white-gold colour gives the
bit a discreet and elegant look and due to the improved material mix, SENSOGAN®
does not tarnish easily as the chewing activity of the horse is optimally
supported. The bit will stay true to its white gold colour for much longer and
can also be polished to a high shine at any point in its lifetime. The new
SENSOGAN® range is identified by its unique stamped black ring on the cheeks of
the mouthpieces.
The special
challenge in developing SENSOGAN® was to maintain the positive features of
Aurigan yet to intensify them, giving an even more delicate and sophisticated
connection to the horse. In the twenty or so years that Aurigan has been
available, many companies have copied its colour but never its properties.
Sprenger knew the time was right to launch their new optimal bitting collection
with an unmatched look anywhere else in the market.
It is the
distinctive composition of Copper, Manganese and Zinc that makes SENSOGAN® so
special. The reduced copper content combined with the manganese results in a
more regulated process of oxidation. Tests with the veterinary college of
Hannover and the German Riding School in Warendorf showed without doubt this
combination of metals has a positive influence on the horses satisfaction,
motivation and willingness to perform.
Manganese is known
to assist with building up connective tissue as well as for muscle and energy
metabolism, it is also known to reduce histamine and can help prevent skin
reactions. The feed industry has recently recognised manganese as an important
feed additive for competition horses.
Available in a wide
range of the popular bit styles and sizes from Sprenger including the KK Ultra,
Dynamic RS, WH Ultra and Turnado ranges, plus many other individual weymouths,
bradoons and jumping and training bits. Different bit rings can also be ordered
to match stainless steel or bronze coloured bridle work.
KK Conrad ULTRA Mouthpiece
The KK Conrad ULTRA bits take advantage of the exceptional sensitivity of the tongue. Did you know that because the tongue is extremely sensitive it multiplies perceptions in this area dramatically?
You might also recognize the feeling if the human tongue finds a little how in the tooth it gives the impression there is a huge gap. A horses tongue works in much the same way, whilst eating it can filter out small stones from the food. In collaboration with SPRENGER, the Veterinary University in Hanover started a new project. They examined more that 70 horses heads and used various methods to take measurements.
The analysis of this information produced unexpected results:
SPRENGER used this new information for the development of the new KK Conrad ULTRA. The aim was to improve the bits bit not make them too severe.
How can the sense of touch be stimulated to obtain the desired effect?
1. As the palate is narrower than originally assumed the lozenge in the centre was shortened (no pressure on the palate).
2. The angle of the link was turned at 45. This ensures that when the reins are pulled the rounded link rests fully in the tongue without squeezing it.
3. The tongues sense of touch is utilised and clear instructions are given through the reins.
Important Information
Make sure the bit is fitted correctly in the mouth. The arrow must always be on the left hand side pointing forwards.

Aurigan Item if there are no Sensogan ones in stock. If you would prefer to purchase a Sensogan
one at the end of the trial then this can be arranged for you. The material of the mouthpiece wouldnt
alter the effects of the trial as much as the type of mouthpiece would.

If the bit is unsuitable and was a buy now, it can be returned if it is unused and in its original packaging. If you have opted for the 30 day trial you can return the bit within the 30 days and will receive a refund minus the hire fee applicable to the item trialled.
The trial fee varies per product as this price is related to the retail price
Please take care of the bit, as it is the customers – (the holder of the account that the bit is purchased on) responsibility to make sure that the bit is kept in good condition throughout the trial period and thereafter, the customer is also responsible that the bit is kept safe from theft and loss, as if you cannot return then you will be unable to return the bit for the part refund.
It is recommended that the bits are returned via a tracked postal facility as The Horse Bit Shop cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage in the post when being returned
The 30 day’s trial period will start from the postage date that The Horse Bit Shop posts the bit which will be postal dated on the envelope, which takes less than 48 hours from dispatch for delivery to the UK. The return date that the bit has reaches The Horse Bit Shop will be the date of despatch which will be 30 days after the postal date. Please note it can take 3 – 5 working days to dispatch and deliver orders.
Dates to which the bit should be returned may be subject to change if the day falls on a Public Holiday. If the bit is not returned by that date then or the bit is returned damaged or not fit for purpose you will not be entitled to a refund.
For other countries where shipping times are longer, the trial period will be increased to a maximum of 36 days according to the current postal delivery times, the date to be returned will be stated in the letter included in with the bit, the bits will be dispatched via airmail and will be expected to be returned via airmail, as surface mail can take up to 50 days for some countries. Please allow plenty time for the bit to reach the UK, you will not be entitled to a refund, even if the bit is in transit.
On return of bits on 30 day trial you will receive a refund for the price of the bit minus the trial fee.
The 30 day trial is not be available on such products which are of plastic/rubber due to the fact they are not as resistant to wear and tear and cannot be sterilised to the required standards. Trial bits can be bits from our bit library and may have been used previously and therefore not always brand new bits however should you have received a trial bit it can be exchanged for a brand new before the end of the trial period should you be keeping the bit. We do aim to send brand new bits when possible and all bits sent will be fit for purpose and fully sanitised.
