The Neue Schule Salox is Neue Schules unique composition – This is a warmer softer metal with a very high copper content and Neue Schule additive to maximise on oxidation (Nickel Free). This promotes salivation, mouthing, acceptance and harmony. Many horses that have previously only been bittable in rubber or nylon have proven extremely comfortable in the Neue Schule Salox. All bits in the Neue Schule Collection have high density stainless steel rings, cheeks, etc., for appearance and durability.
Although single jointed, this bit is ergonomically designed to eradicate the ‘nutcracker’ action and consequent problems that the traditional straight-armed single jointed snaffle often causes. The cleverly curved mouthpiece prevents it from moving too far forwards in the mouth reducing pressure on the thinner more sensitive part of the tongue and the curvature down towards the bars achieves a gentle more even weight bearing surface. This design is very beneficial for horses that back off or only offer an intermittent contact or for the very rare occasion when a horse does not find a lozenge comfortable.
By combining this mouthpiece with a D-Ring it enhances directional control making it exceptionally good for tight turns during faster work as the mouthpiece should not slide across the mouth. It’s also good for dressage as it gives the rider greater shoulder control on a circle and helps set up the bend when changing the rein or with lateral work. The stability the D-Ring offers is often useful for horses that are overactive in the mouth in a loose ring design.
