2466 Silver Wings Elevator Bit Double Jointed

The Silver Wings bits offer special protection for the corners of the mouth with their characteristic side bit plates, preventing the sensitive skin from being pinched by the sliding rings. The sliding rings ensure that the anatomical mouthpiece always returns to a neutral position and rests gently in the horse’s mouth. At the same time, the bit plates provide lateral guidance and stabilize the position of the bit in the horse’s mouth, offering slight lateral influence that can particularly support young horses in bending and turns.

The Silver Wings Elevator Bit is used with elevator cheeks, which pass through the bit rings and have a ring at the bottom. Elevator bits can be used with one or two reins. When the rein is engaged, the pressure on the poll is increased, the bit tilts in the mouth, and is lifted upwards, thereby increasing the pressure on the horse’s tongue and bars. As the name suggests, an elevator bit is designed to help raise the horse’s head. The elevator bit provides maximum control and is only suitable for experienced riders!

Advantages at a Glance

Mouth Friendliness and Comfort

  • The side plates of the bit prevent painful pinching of the corners of the mouth and ensure a stable position in the horse’s mouth.
  • The bit plates allow for gentle lateral influence on the horse’s mouth and can aid in bending and turning.

Pressure Distribution

  • The double jointed mouthpiece evenly distributes pressure over the tongue and bars of the horse.
  • Use only with elevator cheeks: when the rein is engaged, pressure on the horse’s poll, tongue, and bars is increased.

Stainless Steel Mouthpiece

  • Made from stainless steel, the bit is robust, tasteless, and odorless.

For Which Horses is This Bit Especially Suitable?

  • For horses with sensitive mouths
  • For horses that pull down strongly
  • For horses that need better head elevation
  • For horses that require slight lateral stability

Note on Proper Use

The elevator bit is a severe bit and should only be used by experienced riders and not for prolonged periods. Any bit can cause pain if used roughly or improperly, and this is especially true for bits with leverage effects. The wrong size can also be painful for the horse. Please contact us with any questions about size and fastening, or read more about choosing the right size [here]  and proper fitting.
